Should lowering fluoride level in US water supplies bother us?

Yesterday it was a big news that US has lowered limits for fluoride in water as they have found there that too much fluoride is causing splotching teeth. Now, the question is how does this news affect us? – to me it appears to be of just academic interest only. It is another question which can be asked in viva-voce like in our college days we used to literally cram up the water fluoride levels.
Mottled teeth — Some People Don’t Bother Anyway!

This 50-year female has mottled upper teeth. It is also called Dental Fluorosis and it is due to excessive fluoride concentration in water during the development stage of the affected teeth.
