This lady around 50 comes to me twice a year for routine dental check-up and oral prophylaxis.
You are looking at her dental photographs. Want to know about the stainless steel wiring of her teeth? –Fine, i shall tell. She says she had shaky teeth and got complete gum treatment at a city’s Dental College about 10-11 years ago. I have been looking at these teeth for the last around 6-7 years. She is quite particular about her oral hygiene. As soon as she notices tartar deposits on her teeth (as you see in these snaps), she gets scaling and polishing of teeth.
Wiring that you see on her lower front teeth is called splinting of teeth. Let’s talk a bit more about this Splinting of teeth. Now-a-days there are quite a few better options available like fibre- splinting in which a tooth-colored material (dental composite) is used for doing such splinting — i mean for providing anchorage to the loose teeth. However, since this splinting has also been done in a dental institute — no worries. However, every time she comes to me i ask her to go to her periodontist for follow-up but she has not been following my advice.
When i am sharing her dental photographs in this article, i am reminded of dental quacks who play havoc with their parents’ teeth in the name of dental splinting. Here is a link where you can see have a look at their misadventures.
Nothing much to say on this case — even otherwise you hardly say. Thank God Google Uncle is taking care of my blog by sending more than 90% of readers through its search engine. You see my one and only inspiration of doing all this is some unknown person who types few words in the search box while looking for some authentic info. like i was doing on one fine day 7-8 years ago — i typed something and lo….it was there right in front of me ….and it had allayed my anxiety at that time.
